Local SEO for WordPress: 8 Best Plugins (Free and Paid)

By Jonas Lindemann

Updated

Part of the guide: WordPress SEO guides and plugin comparisons

A person standing in front of his wordpress website he wants to optimize for local seo with plugins.

A local SEO plugin helps search engines connect your WordPress site to a place. It adds LocalBusiness schema with your name, address, phone number and opening hours, or it builds the location pages people land on when they search for a service in their town.

The short answer: Rank Math is the best free choice for a business with one location, and Five Star Business Profile and Schema is the best free choice for several. Yoast Local SEO, now part of Yoast SEO Premium, is the one to pick if your site already runs Yoast SEO. LPagery is the plugin for a separate page per town or service area.

We compared the free versions, documentation and pricing pages of 12 plugins on 12 October 2026, and 8 made the list. We didn't install them on a test site for this update, so the features and prices below come from each vendor's own pages and wordpress.org on that date. LPagery is our plugin. We're not affiliated with the other plugins, and nobody paid to be included.

The list starts with the four SEO plugins, first the one whose free version does the most for local SEO and then the paid ones by number of installs. After them comes one plugin per remaining job: location pages, schema on its own, and reviews.

What a local SEO plugin does on your site

Each plugin on this list does one or more of three jobs:

  • LocalBusiness schema with your name, address, phone number, opening hours and coordinates
  • Location pages, one per branch, town or service area
  • Reviews, a contact card and a map that visitors see

A location page gives a search such as "plumber in Tigard" a page that answers it. LocalBusiness schema is structured data: Google requires only the name and address and recommends the rest.

Google's LocalBusiness documentation asks you to define each location as its own LocalBusiness and to check the markup with the Rich Results Test. Our guide to local business schema explains the fields, and this walkthrough shows three ways to add it in WordPress.

Let one plugin write your LocalBusiness schema. With two SEO or schema plugins active, each can print its own block, and the two may not agree on your details.

The rest of local SEO happens off your site: in your Google Business Profile, in directory listings with the same name, address and phone number, and in your Google reviews. No WordPress plugin does that part. Our guides to Google Business Profile optimization and appearing in the local pack cover it, and the local SEO starter guide puts it all together.

1. Rank Math

Rank Math is the best free local SEO plugin for a business with one location, because its free version writes LocalBusiness schema with your opening hours and coordinates.

The settings sit under Rank Math SEO > Titles & Meta > Local SEO. In the free version you choose your business type and enter your address, phone number, opening hours and Google Maps coordinates, and Rank Math adds them to its schema. A contact shortcode shows the same details on a page, with a map once you add a Google Maps API key.

Multiple locations are a PRO feature. Each location then gets its own entry in a Locations post type, and PRO adds a KML file for your sitemap and a store locator.

Pros

  • LocalBusiness schema with opening hours and coordinates in the free version
  • One plugin for local schema and the rest of your on-page SEO
  • 4,000,000+ active installs, updated in October 2026

Cons

  • Multiple locations, the KML file and the store locator need PRO
  • The map needs your own Google Maps API key
  • PRO covers sites you own; client sites need the Business plan

Rank Math PRO costs $8.99 a month, billed yearly ($107.88 a year), and the first year was 11 percent cheaper when we checked. Get the free version from wordpress.org; Rank Math's Local SEO guide walks through each setting.

2. Yoast Local SEO (part of Yoast SEO Premium)

Yoast Local SEO is the pick when your site already runs Yoast SEO and you want local schema, several locations and a store locator from the same company.

The free Yoast SEO plugin doesn't output LocalBusiness schema or a business phone number: Yoast's own schema overview lists both as Premium. Since 1 July 2025, Yoast no longer sells Local SEO on its own. It's included in Yoast SEO Premium, Yoast WooCommerce SEO and Yoast SEO AI+. You still install it as a separate plugin next to the free Yoast SEO, and its current version needs Yoast SEO 28.4 or later.

Yoast Local SEO turns your address and opening hours into schema and adds a geo sitemap and a KML file. It manages several locations as their own post type, with one of them as the primary location. It has shortcodes for the address, map, opening hours and store locator. The store locator only works with the multiple locations option turned on, and maps need a Google Maps API key.

Pros

  • Several locations, each with its own details and opening hours
  • Store locator, geo sitemap and KML file included
  • Comes with everything else in Yoast SEO Premium

Cons

  • No local features in the free Yoast SEO
  • Not sold on its own any more, so you pay for the whole Premium plan
  • Maps need a Google Maps API key

Yoast SEO Premium costs $118.80 a year for one site, excluding VAT. Yoast's Local SEO page lists the features, and the July 2025 pricing change explains the bundle.

3. All in One SEO

All in One SEO (AIOSEO) suits sites that already use it and need many locations, but its local features start on the Plus plan.

The free version, AIOSEO Lite, has no Local SEO module, even though its wordpress.org description mentions one. The FAQ on the same page and AIOSEO's own documentation say Local SEO is a Pro feature from the Plus plan. On Plus you activate the Local SEO add-on. It adds LocalBusiness schema, opening hours and unlimited locations with their own settings, plus business info and location blocks and Google Maps with your own API key.

With a single location, AIOSEO prints the LocalBusiness markup only in your homepage's source code.

Pros

  • Unlimited locations, each with its own SEO settings
  • Blocks, widgets and shortcodes for your business details

Cons

  • Nothing local in the free version, and the cheapest paid plan (Basic) doesn't include it either
  • The first-year price doubles at renewal
  • Maps need a Google Maps API key

AIOSEO Plus costs $99.50 for the first year and $199 a year after that, for three sites. The free version is on wordpress.org, and AIOSEO's Local SEO page lists what Plus adds.

4. SEOPress

SEOPress is the pick for sites that run SEOPress, and its PRO plan is the cheapest of the paid local plans here, at $49 a year for one site.

LocalBusiness schema is a PRO feature. The free version covers the Knowledge Graph (your organization's name, logo and phone number), which is not LocalBusiness markup. SEOPress PRO adds LocalBusiness schema with opening hours and coordinates. Its Local Business block and widget show your address, phone number, opening hours and a link to the map. Version 10.2 (September 2026) added opening hours per post, and version 10.3 adds an optional email, logo and social profiles to the schema.

SEOPress has no locations manager. For several branches, its guide says to use a separate LocalBusiness schema for each location.

Pros

  • The lowest yearly price of the paid local plans here, and it renews at the same price
  • Opening hours per post since version 10.2

Cons

  • No local schema in the free version
  • No locations manager, and the block links to a map instead of embedding one

SEOPress PRO costs $49 a year for one site. The free version is on wordpress.org, and SEOPress's Local SEO page shows the PRO features.

5. LPagery

LPagery is the plugin for businesses that need a separate page for every town, branch or service area, built from a spreadsheet instead of by hand.

You build one template page in the block editor or the page builder you already use, and type placeholders such as {city} wherever the text changes. Then you upload a CSV or XLSX file with one row per page, and LPagery creates a WordPress page for each row. LPagery also copies the SEO title and meta description you set on the template in Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress, with the placeholders filled in for each page.

The free version creates up to 100 pages per run and uses up to three placeholder columns; it ignores any extra columns. Version 3.1.0, released on 9 October 2026, checks the source file and the template before a run. It lists what needs fixing, such as a placeholder in the template with no matching column.

LPagery doesn't write LocalBusiness schema or opening hours, so use it next to one of the SEO or schema plugins on this list. Give every location page content that belongs to that town, such as the jobs you do there or a local customer's review, in its own spreadsheet columns. A page that only swaps the town name gives a visitor nothing new.

Pros

  • One page per spreadsheet row, created as normal WordPress pages you can edit
  • Works with the template you already built, in Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi, Bricks or Breakdance
  • Fills the SEO plugin's title and meta description on every page

Cons

  • The free version has three placeholder columns and 100 pages per run
  • No schema and no Google Business Profile features
  • A spreadsheet that only changes the town name produces thin pages

LPagery Pro starts at $19 a month for one site on the Standard plan, or $171 a year with yearly billing. Standard has unlimited placeholders and pages per run, URL slugs, parent pages and pages for every town within a radius. Google Sheet Sync, bulk updates of existing pages and automatic links between the pages need Extended, at $27 a month. Every plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee (pricing).

The free version is on wordpress.org, the Bulk Page Generator page shows what it does, and our service area pages tutorial walks through the free version step by step.

6. Five Star Business Profile and Schema

Five Star Business Profile and Schema is the best free plugin for local schema with several locations, when you don't want a full SEO plugin to do it.

The free version builds a contact card with your address, phone number, opening hours with holiday exceptions and an optional Google map. It adds matching Schema.org markup, with Local Business among the schema types. You can show the card with a block, a shortcode or a widget. Multiple locations are part of the free version, and each location gets its own schema and card. You can also assign a schema type to a single page, a post type or the whole site.

It doesn't update your Google Business Profile, and the map needs your own Google Maps API key.

Pros

  • Multiple locations with schema in the free version
  • A visible contact card that matches the schema

Cons

  • 7,000+ active installs, far fewer than the SEO plugins above
  • Controls for sharing the business schema with Yoast SEO or Rank Math are in Premium

Premium costs $39 for one site and adds contact card layouts and schema automation; every local feature above is in the free version. Get it from wordpress.org or Five Star Plugins.

7. Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP

Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP is the free pick when you need a specific LocalBusiness subtype, such as Dentist or Plumber.

In the plugin's Schema Types screen you add a Local Business schema and set the pages it applies to. The free version has fields for the street address, phone number, latitude and longitude, opening days and a map link. A block, widget or shortcode shows the same details on the page, one block per page. It can also show your Google reviews.

There is no locations manager. For several branches you can add one Local Business schema per location page.

Pros

  • Every LocalBusiness subtype in the free version
  • More than 35 schema types, so one plugin can handle all your markup

Cons

  • No locations manager
  • Overlaps with the schema your SEO plugin may already write, so turn one of them off

Pro starts at $99 a year for one site; for local SEO, the paid version adds reviews from more than 75 platforms. The free version is on wordpress.org.

8. Rich Showcase for Google Reviews

Rich Showcase for Google Reviews is the simplest free way to show your Google reviews on your WordPress site.

You paste your Google Maps URL or Place ID, and the free version shows up to 10 reviews and your star rating without an API key. They appear as a slider, grid, list or floating badge. With your own Google API key it fetches new reviews every day. There's no limit on how many Google Business places you connect, so each location page can show its own reviews.

Reviews on your site help visitors decide. They won't give you review stars in Google: Google's review snippet guidelines exclude pages with LocalBusiness markup when the business controls the reviews shown about itself.

Pros

  • Works without an API key for the first 10 reviews
  • A block, a shortcode and a widget, so it fits any page builder

Cons

  • Daily updates need your own Google API key
  • Review rich snippets are only in the paid version

The paid Business Reviews Bundle costs $85 a year for one site and adds all your Google reviews plus Facebook and Yelp. The free version is on wordpress.org, and our guide to getting more reviews covers the step before.

Which local SEO plugin should you choose?

  • Choose Rank Math if you have one location and want local schema for free.
  • Choose Five Star Business Profile and Schema if you have several locations, want them in your schema for free and don't need a full SEO plugin.
  • Choose Yoast Local SEO if you already pay for Yoast SEO Premium or plan to.
  • Choose All in One SEO Plus if your site runs AIOSEO and you manage many locations.
  • Choose SEOPress PRO if your site runs SEOPress; at $49 a year it's the cheapest paid local plan here.
  • Choose LPagery if you need a page for every town, branch or service area.
  • Choose Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP if you need a specific LocalBusiness subtype.
  • Choose Rich Showcase for Google Reviews to show your Google reviews on your location pages.

How to combine local SEO plugins

We'd use three plugins at most: one for schema, one for location pages if you serve more than one area, and one for reviews. A service business that works in several towns could use Rank Math for its schema and titles, LPagery for the town pages, and Rich Showcase for Google Reviews on each page.

On LPagery's template page, write the SEO title and meta description with placeholders, such as "Plumber in {city}", and every generated page gets its own. Then link the town pages from one areas-we-serve page, so visitors and search engines can reach all of them.

You don't need to write "near me" on your pages. Searches with "near me" are matched to where the searcher is, so a page for each area you serve does that job. Our guide to local SEO for multiple locations covers the rest of a multi-location setup.

Plugins we left out

  • WP Go Maps: a map and store locator plugin with 300,000+ installs. It lists no schema features, and several of the plugins above can already show a map.
  • Post to Google My Business: it publishes posts to your Google Business Profile from WordPress, which is work on your profile, not on your site.
  • The SEO Framework: last updated in December 2025 and, according to wordpress.org, not tested with WordPress 7.
  • Local SEO By Ankit Rawat: it shows up in searches for local SEO plugins, but has 40 active installs on wordpress.org.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free local SEO plugin for WordPress?

Yes. Rank Math's free version writes LocalBusiness schema for one location. Five Star Business Profile and Schema does it for free with several locations, and Schema & Structured Data for WP & AMP with every LocalBusiness subtype. Yoast SEO, All in One SEO and SEOPress keep their local features in paid plans. For general SEO plugins, see our list of the best free WordPress SEO plugins.

Is Yoast Local SEO free?

No. Since July 2025, Yoast Local SEO is part of Yoast SEO Premium, which costs $118.80 a year for one site, and Yoast no longer sells it on its own. You install it as a second plugin next to the free Yoast SEO.

Is All in One SEO better than Yoast for local SEO?

They cover the same basics: LocalBusiness schema, opening hours, several locations and maps. AIOSEO Plus covers three sites and unlimited locations, but its $99.50 first-year price goes up to $199. Yoast SEO Premium costs $118.80 a year for one site and adds a store locator and a KML file, which AIOSEO's local pages don't mention. If you already use one of the two, stay with it.

Do I need a separate local SEO plugin if I use Rank Math or Yoast SEO?

With Rank Math, no: its free Local SEO settings cover one location, and several locations need PRO. With the free Yoast SEO, yes, because LocalBusiness schema is a Premium feature. Five Star Business Profile and Schema is a free alternative. Either way, let only one plugin output LocalBusiness schema.

Can location pages hurt my rankings?

They can if they're thin. Google's spam policies count pages for different cities that funnel visitors to one page as doorway abuse. Give each page something specific to that place, such as the jobs you do there, local reviews or directions. Our plumber location pages tutorial shows one way to do that with separate spreadsheet columns.

How do I check that my local schema works?

Paste the page's URL into Google's Rich Results Test and fix any critical errors, as Google's LocalBusiness documentation recommends. Then watch Search Console over the next weeks for impressions on searches that include your town. To see how you show up in AI answers city by city, our local rank tracker checks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity.
