Google Sheet Sync
Edit your Google Sheet, and your pages follow
Connect a page set to a Google Sheet, and LPagery checks it on a schedule. New rows become pages, edited rows update their page, and deleted rows can remove theirs.
Google Sheet Sync is part of the Extended and Ultimate plans.
What you get
Your sheet becomes the place where you manage your pages
Decide what the sheet is allowed to change
Each page set has its own sync settings. Let new rows create pages and edited rows update them, and turn on deletions when a removed row should remove its page too.
Sync Page Creations, Sync Page Updates and Sync Page Deletions
Changes reach your site without anyone logging in
LPagery checks your sheets every hour by default, and you can switch to twice a day, daily or weekly. Whoever edits the sheet doesn't need a WordPress account, and when a change can't wait, Sync Now starts a run straight away.
Hourly, twice daily, daily or weekly, plus Sync Now
Only changed rows are rebuilt, and your hand edits stay
A sync skips every row that hasn't changed since the last run, so one edited cell means one updated page. Pages you edited by hand in WordPress keep their content, and the Overview shows when the last sync ran and when the next one is due.
Overwrite manual changes stays off until you switch it on
How it works
Connect the sheet once, then work in the sheet
- 1
Share your Google Sheet by link
Put one column per placeholder in the first row, like city and service, and set the sheet's sharing to anyone with the link.
- 2
Create your page set from the sheet
On the Create screen, pick Google Sheet as the input, paste the link, switch on Enable Google Sheet Sync and tick what the sync may do. Then create your pages as usual.
- 3
Keep working in the sheet
Add, edit or delete rows whenever you like. On each scheduled run, LPagery creates, updates and, if you turned on deletions, removes the matching pages.
Rows are matched to pages by their URL
LPagery finds each row's page through the URL Slug, like plumber-{city}. Edit any other cell, except a parent page column, and the page updates in place. If you change a value the URL is built from, the row gets a new page, and with Sync Page Deletions on, the old one is removed.
Questions about Google Sheet Sync
- Which plan do I need?
Google Sheet Sync needs the Extended or Ultimate plan. With Standard, you can create pages from a Google Sheet link, without the automatic sync.
- How often does LPagery check my sheet?
Every hour by default. Under Settings, Google Sheet Sync, you can change the interval to twice daily, daily or weekly, set the time of the next sync, and start a run at any time with Sync Now.
- Does my sheet have to be public?
LPagery reads the sheet through its link, so sharing has to be set to anyone with the link. An XLSX file stored in Google Drive doesn't work, so save it as a Google Sheet first.
- What happens to pages I edited by hand in WordPress?
A sync leaves their content as it is, even when their row changes. If you want the sheet to win, turn on Overwrite manual changes under Settings, Google Sheet Sync. It applies to every synced page set.
- Do template changes reach synced pages?
A sync only rebuilds the pages whose rows changed. To apply a template change to every page, run an update from the Update screen, or turn on Force update so every sync rebuilds all pages. In Live Mode, template changes show on every page as soon as you save the template.
- My site has WP Cron disabled. Will the sync still run?
The schedule runs through WP Cron. If the DISABLE_WP_CRON constant is set, you'll need a server cron job that calls WordPress cron, or you can remove the constant from wp-config.php.
- Will a large sheet slow down my site?
LPagery processes the pages of a sync in batches. If your server struggles, you can lower the batch size under Settings, Google Sheet Sync, so each run does less at once.
Manage your pages from the sheet your team already uses
Google Sheet Sync is included in the Extended and Ultimate plans.
